Hi. My name is Sebastian. I'm Director Technology at Argonauten in Hamburg, give tech- classes at Miami Ad School and FH Wedel. I love to travel around the world, good food and building fancy stuff with (web-) technologies.
I do a lot of Raspberry Pi projects and experiments. But I barely never use a directly connected monitor, mouse or keyboard. I always use it via terminal and do everything over remote connection. But at the very first point you have to setup the Raspberry Pi with an operating system and enable network connection. […]
I am using GitLab Runner for deployment and building processes. When running smaller tasks this could also be done on a raspberry pi. This is why I’m using raspberries as GitLab Runner nodes within my network. Here are instructions how to install the GitLab Runner on a Raspberry Pi. I wanted to know how well […]
How to create and WiFi Access Point based on a Raspberry Pi 3. There are many reasons why you might create an WiFi access point with Raspberry. Even the build in Raspberry components might not be the most reliable setup running an access point permanently for many clients. But running a guest wifi or having […]
GitLab is of course an amazing piece of software. Continuous Integration (CI) or Continuous Deployment (CD) handling with GitLab Runner is even more fun to develop, build and deploy software. I’m running a GitLab instance on a small local server within my private network. Also one instance of a GitLab Runner is running on the […]
Since the latest version of Raspian OS ( Debian Stretch ) the configuration of a static IP address changed a little. If you enter it the old way into the /etc/network/interfaces you might end up in a „No wireless interfaces found“ error.
By default the OSX Finder hides a lot of system files, which are not meant to been seen and edit by the user. But in some cases you do need to edit them. And I also love to see what is existing in a folder.
The raspberry pi camera is great for experiments but not unrivaled in terms of image quality. But you could also use many DSRL cameras connected to your raspberry pi to take pictures. This is how to use a Canon EOS 40D together with a raspberry pi.
I very often use Raspberry Pis for any kind of installations and tinkering. When there should something be displayed or the installation has any kind of display interface I always use web technologies for that. So building a website, which I run in Google Chrome browser in kiosk mode. With Google Remote Debugging, built in […]
I use the Raspberry Pi so often in kiosk mode running any kind of installation, I already have a ready to use image for this. But from time to time I need to set up one from scratch. Therefore for myself and for whom it may help find here my steps. Open a terminal on […]
Most WiFi networks send their names or SSID so you could easily find them on your device. You could also turn this functionality off. The networks could still be found easily with any WiFi network sniffer tool. It is just a little less obvious if you do not want everybody to login there. If you […]
At home I have a WiFi network from my router through the appartment. But my working place is at the other side of the house and I do not have the possibility to pull an ethernet cable through the walls. But I for the NAS, some raspberry projects and so on I also wanted to […]
To play mp3 files on raspberry pi you could use the omxplayer. Install it over terminal via: sudo apt-get install omxplayer To play a mp3 file just use: omxplayer -l 00:00:00 -o local /path/to/fie.mp3 The parameter -o local defines the output to be local, which means on the raspberry pi to use the 3.5mm jack. […]
